Suchitra Webster, Community Liaison, Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI

With a Bachelor of Arts in international relations and a master's degree in education–student affairs, Suchitra Webster brings global thinking and practical experience to her role as a new board member for ITGA. Her leadership in neighborhood associations and roles in communications, admissions, and academic advising at Michigan State University — her alma mater twice over — led to Webster’s current role as MSU’s community liaison.

Town-gown partnerships are more essential than ever, she says, given the challenges that the pandemic imposed on municipalities and higher ed institutions, as well as "a national discourse around democracy’s meaning." As a self-described "dot-connector" and "historical/contextual thinker," Webster seeks to grow ITGA’s membership by positioning the organization as a "think tank, a problem-solving laboratory and a place for robust dialogue."
