OSU’s Off-Campus and Commuter Student Engagement team successfully implemented a multifaceted program for its nonresidential students centered on education, community engagement, and harm reduction outreach. Key milestones included the creation of four educational resources—Party Smart, Good Neighbor, Winter Break, and Move Out guides—distributed to students, property managers, and local businesses. Complementary digital campaigns expanded the program’s reach, with four targeted emails sent to 49,000 recipients and multiple social media campaigns generating more than 77,000 interactions. Yard signs, community events, and the distribution of Party Smart kits further reinforced safety messaging across the off campus area. Eight community events fostered meaningful resident connections, while promotional giveaways and naloxone distribution supported harm reduction efforts. Early indicators show positive behavioral impact, including increased student self referrals and improved attitudes toward alcohol and other drug use. Feedback from campus and community partners affirmed the value of the educational materials and collaborative outreach. Overall, the program is effectively strengthening student well being and off campus community relations.
