The Department of Wellness Promotion’s Red Watch Band (RWB) program was designed to improve students’ knowledge, skills, and access to harm reduction resources at UNLV. While the program focused on alcohol education and the prevention of high‑risk drinking, underage drinking, alcohol‑impaired driving, and alcohol‑related violence, it also expanded into bystander intervention training, biweekly CPR certifications, frequent tabling in high‑traffic areas, and educational sessions on using fentanyl/xylazine test strips and Naloxone (Narcan) to prevent overdoses. Partnerships with registered student organizations (RSO), academic departments, and programs like Rebels R.I.S.E., a second‑year student success and leadership program, broadened engagement. A Graduate Assistant significantly expanded outreach, refining educational materials and mentoring student leaders of Narcare LV, an RSO focused on opioid harm reduction, overdose prevention, and peer‑based education. Across spring 2025, the program reached 960 individuals, including 185 RWB participants, 103 Narcan trainees, 36 CPR‑certified students, and 636 individuals through tabling. Evaluations showed strong facilitator ratings, increased confidence in emergency response, and growing demand for CPR and Narcan training.
