Campus West Connections is collaborative and shared off-campus space that brings together leadership and expertise from the City of Fort Collins and Colorado State University including Police Services, Neighborhood Services, Off-Campus Life and the Student Resolution Center. This collaboration hosts weekly meetings focused on changing outcomes for CSU students and long-term residents. This new initiative helps strengthen relationships between the city and CSU by sharing space, facilitating team-building and providing outreach programs to build connections in neighborhoods closest to campus.

Through a first-ever collaboration of town and campus police, landlords, town inspections and university officials, the Town of Amherst and UMass Amherst are using Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) to combat large, off-campus parties - “day drinks” and “night rages” - that have defied traditional prevention efforts.

Universities and their host communities share a mutual goal of working together.  Cultivating an understanding between them is essential to positive relations. Like a phoenix rising from the ashes, a non-punitive restorative justice program has led to one of the most solid connections between students and the community in the university’s history, yielding a less than 1% recidivism rate. Elements of the program will be shared during this engaging and lively session. Participants will learn how to replicate the program.

The City of Oxford, Ohio, and Miami University share a vision to become the healthiest college town in America.  We have focused our partnership work on health and wellness, which we have intentionally conceived of broadly to encompass the promotion of physical and mental health as well as a healthy economy, healthy climate, and economic and community health.  Jessica Greene, Executive Director of Enjoy Oxford Visitors bureau and Kate Rousmaniere, Mayor of the City of Oxford and Miami University professor will present how we strategized to engage both the community and the university in our vision over the last two years.{/popup}
